    The Wise Woman's Stone

A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation. The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime. But a few days later he came back to return the stone to the wise woman.

"I've been thinking," he said, "I know how valuable the stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me something more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone.

    A Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime

People come into your life for a reason, a season, or
a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you
will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON . . . It is
usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have
come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you
with guidance and support, to aid you physically,
emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a
godsend, and they are! They are there for the reason
    you need them to be.

Then, without any wrong doing on your part, or at an
inconvenient time, this person will say or do something
to bring the relationship to an end.

    Sometimes they die.
    Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realise is that our need has been met, our
desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you
sent up has been answered. And now it is time to move on.

When people come into your life for a SEASON . . .
Because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount
of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; things
you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional
foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the
person, and put what you have learned to use in all
other relationships and areas of your life. It is said
that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

    Believe Nothing

Believe nothing, O monks, merely because you have been told it . . . or because it is traditional, or because you yourselves have imagined it. Do not believe what your teacher tells you merely out of respect for the teacher. But whatsoever, after due examination and analysis, you find to be conducive to the good, the benefit, the welfare of all beings--that doctrine believe and cling to, and take it as your guide.

Return to Paradise - by Eliza Riley

Lisa gazed out over the Caribbean Sea, feeling the faint breeze against her face - eyes shut, the white sand warm between her bare toes. The place was beautiful beyond belief, but it was still unable to ease the grief she felt as she remembered the last time she had been here.
She had married James right here on this spot three years ago to the day. Dressed in a simple white shift dress, miniature white roses attempting to tame her long dark curls, Lisa had been happier than she had ever thought possible. James was even less formal but utterly irresistible in creased summer trousers and a loose white cotton shirt. His dark hair slightly ruffled and his eyes full of adoration as his looked at his bride to be. The justice of the peace had read their vows as they held hands and laughed at the sheer joy of being young, in love and staying in a five star resort on the Caribbean island of the Dominican Republic. They had seen the years blissfully stretching ahead of them, together forever. They planned their children, two she said, he said four so they compromised on three (two girls and a boy of course); where they would live, the travelling they would do together - it was all certain, so they had thought then.
But that seemed such a long time ago now. A lot can change in just a few years - a lot of heartache can change a person and drive a wedge through the strongest ties, break even the deepest love. Three years to the day and they had returned, though this time not for the beachside marriages the island was famous for but for one of its equally popular quickie divorces.
Lisa let out a sigh that was filled with pain and regret. What could she do but move on, find a new life and new dreams? - the old one was beyond repair. How could this beautiful place, with its lush green coastline, eternity of azure blue sea and endless sands be a place for the agony she felt now?
The man stood watching from the edge of the palm trees. He couldn't take his eyes of the dark-haired woman he saw standing at the water's edge, gazing out to sea as though she was waiting for something - or someone. She was beautiful, with her slim figure dressed in a loose flowing cotton dress, her crazy hair and bright blue eyes not far off the colour of the sea itself. It wasn't her looks that attracted him though; he came across many beautiful women in his work as a freelance photographer. It was her loneliness and intensity that lured him. Even at some distance he was aware that she was different from any other woman he could meet.

2     Lisa sensed the man approaching even before she turned around. She had been aware of him standing there staring at her and had felt strangely calm about being observed. She looked at him and felt the instant spark of connection she had only experienced once before. He walked slowly towards her and they held each other's gaze. It felt like meeting a long lost friend - not a stranger on a strange beach.
Later, sitting at one of the many bars on the resort, sipping the local cocktails they began to talk. First pleasantries, their hotels, the quality of the food and friendliness of the locals. Their conversation was strangely hesitant considering the naturalness and confidence of their earlier meeting. Onlookers, however, would have detected the subtle flirtation as they mirrored each other's actions and spoke directly into each other's eyes. Only later, after the alcohol had had its loosening effect, did the conversation deepen. They talked of why they were here and finally, against her judgement, Lisa opened up about her heartache of the past year and how events had led her back to the place where she had married the only man she believed she could ever love. She told him of things that had been locked deep inside her, able to tell no one. She told him how she had felt after she had lost her baby.
She was six months pregnant and the happiest she had ever been when the pains had started. She was staying with her mother as James was working out of town. He hadn't made it back in time. The doctor had said it was just one of those things, that they could try again. But how could she when she couldn't even look James in the eye. She hated him then, for not being there, for not hurting as much as her but most of all for looking so much like the tiny baby boy that she held for just three hours before the took him away. All through the following months she had withdrawn from her husband, family, friends. Not wanting to recover form the pain she felt - that would have been a betrayal of her son. At the funeral she had refused to stand next to her husband and the next day she had left him.

3     Looking up, Lisa could see her pain reflected in the man's eyes. For the first time in months she didn't feel alone, she felt the unbearable burden begin to lift from her, only a bit but it was a start. She began to believe that maybe she had a future after all and maybe it could be with this man, with his kind hazel eyes, wet with their shared tears.
They had come here to dissolve their marriage but maybe there was hope. Lisa stood up and took James by the hand and led him away from the bar towards the beech where they had made their vows to each other three years ago. Tomorrow she would cancel the divorce; tonight they would work on renewing their promises.

    Anthracnose

Lemon-Chicken Kebabs with Moroccan Herb Sauce

Lemon-Chicken Kebabs with Moroccan Herb Sauce
    Pair with: Sauvignon Blanc
    Serves 6

3 Meyer lemons, or 1 large orange and 1 regular lemon
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus 1⁄2 cup, plus oil for brushing
    2 teaspoons minced garlic
    1⁄2 teaspoon dried oregano
12 fresh bay leaves (omit if not available)
1 large skinless, boneless whole chicken breast (about 1 pound), cut into 1-inch cubes
2 large sweet onions, each cut into 12 wedges
2 green onions (white and green parts), coarsely chopped
2 tablespoons each chopped fresh basil, cilantro, and flat-leaf parsley
    1 teaspoon chopped fresh tarragon
    1 teaspoon grated orange zest
1 pinch each cayenne pepper, allspice, ground cumin, and cinnamon
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Using a vegetable peeler, peel twelve 1⁄2-inch-wide strips of zest from the top to the bottom of 2 of the lemons and set aside. (If using a mixture of oranges and lemons, peel zest from the orange.) Juice all 3 lemons (or the orange and lemon) into a measuring cup; you should have 1⁄2 cup.

In a large bowl, combine 1⁄4 cup of the juice, the 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 teaspoon of the garlic, the oregano, and bay leaves. Add the chicken, lemon strips, and onions and toss to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to 4 hours.

Soak twelve 8-inch bamboo skewers in water for 20 minutes.

In a food processor, combine the remaining 1⁄4 cup juice, remaining 1 teaspoon garlic, the green onions, basil, cilantro, parsley, tarragon, orange zest, cayenne, allspice, cumin, and cinnamon. Process until smooth. With the machine running, gradually add the remaining 1⁄2 cup olive oil in a slow, steady stream until thoroughly incorporated.

Preheat a gas grill to medium-high. Thread the chicken on the skewers, alternating with the lemon strips, bay leaves, and onion pieces. Brush lightly with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place in the center of the grill, cover, and cook, turning once or twice, until opaque throughout, 5 to 8 minutes. Divide among 6 small plates. Serve the sauce in small bowls alongside.

Three Questions - by Leo Tolstoy

One day it occurred to a certain emperor that if he only knew the answers to three questions, he would never stray in any matter.

What is the best time to do each thing? Who are the most important people to work with? What is the most important thing to do at all times?

The emperor issued a decree throughout his kingdom announcing that whoever could answer the questions would receive a great reward. Many who read the decree made their way to the palace at once, each person with a different answer.

In reply to the first question, one person advised that the emperor make up a thorough time schedule, consecrating every hour, day, month, and year for certain tasks and then follow the schedule to the letter. Only then could he hope to do every task at the right time.

Another person replied that it was impossible to plan in advance and that the emperor should put all vain amusements aside and remain attentive to everything in order to know what to do at what time.

Someone else insisted that, by himself, the emperor could never hope to have all the foresight and competence necessary to decide when to do each and every task and what he really needed was to set up a Council of the Wise and then to act according to their advice.

Someone else said that certain matters required immediate decision and could not wait for consultation, but if he wanted to know in advance what was going to happen he should consult magicians and soothsayers.

The responses to the second question also lacked accord.

One person said that the emperor needed to place all his trust in administrators, another urged reliance on priests and monks, while others recommended physicians. Still others put their faith in warriors.

The third question drew a similar variety of answers. Some said science was the most important pursuit. Others insisted on religion. Yet others claimed the most important thing was military skill.

    -------------------------------

The emperor was not pleased with any of the answers, and no reward was given.

After several nights of reflection, the emperor resolved to visit a hermit who lived up on the mountain and was said to be an enlightened man. The emperor wished to find the hermit to ask him the three questions, though he knew the hermit never left the mountains and was known to receive only the poor, refusing to have anything to do with persons of wealth or power. So the emperor disguised himself as a simple peasant and ordered his attendants to wait for him at the foot of the mountain while he climbed the slope alone to seek the hermit.

Reaching the holy man's dwelling place, the emperor found the hermit digging a garden in front of his hut. When the hermit saw the stranger, he nodded his head in greeting and continued to dig. The labor was obviously hard on him. He was an old man, and each time he thrust his spade into the ground to turn the earth, he heaved heavily.

The emperor approached him and said, "I have come here to ask your help with three questions: When is the best time to do each thing? Who are the most important people to work with? What is the most important thing to do at all times?"

The hermit listened attentively but only patted the emperor on the shoulder and continued digging. The emperor said, "You must be tired. Here, let me give you a hand with that." The hermit thanked him, handed the emperor the spade, and then sat down on the ground to rest.

After he had dug two rows, the emperor stopped and turned to the hermit and repeated his three questions. The hermit still did not answer, but instead stood up and pointed to the spade and said, "Why don't you rest now? I can take over again." But the emperor continued to dig. One hour passed, then two. Finally the sun began to set behind the mountain. The emperor put down the spade and said to the hermit, "I came here to ask if you could answer my three questions. But if you can't give me any answer, please let me know so that I can get on may way home."

The hermit lifted his head and asked the emperor, "Do you hear someone running over there?" The emperor turned his head. They both saw a man with a long white beard emerge from the woods. He ran wildly, pressing his hands against a bloody wound in his stomach. The man ran toward the emperor before falling unconscious to the ground, where he lay groaning. Opening the man's clothing, the emperor and hermit saw that the man had received a deep gash. The emperor cleaned the wound thoroughly and then used his own shirt to bandage it, but the blood completely soaked it within minutes. He rinsed the shirt out and bandaged the wound a second time and continued to do so until the flow of blood had stopped.

At last the wounded man regained consciousness and asked for a drink of water. The emperor ran down to the stream and brought back a jug of fresh water. Meanwhile, the sun had disappeared and the night air had begun to turn cold. The hermit gave the emperor a hand in carrying the man into the hut where they laid him down on the hermit's bed. The man closed his eyes and lay quietly. The emperor was worn out from the long day of climbing the mountain and digging the garden. Leaning against the doorway, he fell asleep. When he rose, the sun had already risen over the mountain. For a moment he forgot where he was and what he had come here for. He looked over to the bed and saw the wounded man also looking around him in confusion. When he saw the emperor, he stared at him intently and then said in a faint whisper, "Please forgive me."

"But what have you done that I should forgive you?" the emperor asked.

"You do not know me, your majesty, but I know you. I was your sworn enemy, and I had vowed to take vengeance on you, for during the last war you killed my brother and seized my property. When I learned that you were coming alone to the mountain to meet the hermit, I resolved to surprise you on your way back to kill you. But after waiting a long time there was still no sign of you, and so I left my ambush in order to seek you out. But instead of finding you, I came across your attendants, who recognized me, giving me this wound. Luckily, I escaped and ran here. If I hadn't met you I would surely be dead by now. I had intended to kill you, but instead you saved my life! I am ashamed and grateful beyond words. If I live, I vow to be your servant for the rest of my life, and I will bid my children and grandchildren to do the same. Please grant me your forgiveness."

The emperor was overjoyed to see that he was so easily reconciled with a former enemy. He not only forgave the man but promised to return all the man's property and to send his own physician and servants to wait on the man until he was completely healed. After ordering his attendants to take the man home, the emperor returned to see the hermit. Before returning to the palace the emperor wanted to repeat his three questions one last time. He found the hermit sowing seeds in the earth they had dug the day before.

The hermit stood up and looked at the emperor. "But your questions have already been answered."

"How's that?" the emperor asked, puzzled.

"Yesterday, if you had not taken pity on my age and given me a hand with digging these beds, you would have been attacked by that man on your way home. Then you would have deeply regretted not staying with me. Therefore the most important time was the time you were digging in the beds, the most important person was myself, and the most important pursuit was to help me. Later, when the wounded man ran up here, the most important time was the time you spent dressing his wound, for if you had not cared for him he would have died and you would have lost the chance to be reconciled with him. Likewise, he was the most important person, and the most important pursuit was taking care of his wound. Remember that there is only one important time and is Now. The present moment is the only time over which we have dominion. The most important person is always the person with whom you are, who is right before you, for who knows if you will have dealings with any other person in the future. The most important pursuit is making that person, the one standing at you side, happy, for that alone is the pursuit of life."

    Because you are my Friend

Because you are my friend I would do for you all that my heart and my soul and body are capable of doing.

I would cry with you and share your burdens when you are down.

I would laugh with you and rejoice with you when you have achieved.

I would be there when you want my company and I would be gone when you do not.

But do not expect perfection from me, for the day shall come when I let you down and you will be hurt.

And when I let you down, it will not be because I desire to hurt you, nor because I do not still love you. It will only be because I am human and that is one frailty from which no one can escape.

    Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won, had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
    It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
    When he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are
    It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

    Earth by Khalil Gibran

How beautiful you are, Earth, and how sublime!

What wisdom in your obedience to the light, and what nobility in your submission to the sun!

How seductive you are when veiled in shadow and how radiant is your face beneath the mask of darkness!

How crystalline are your songs at dawn and how marvelous are the praises sung at the hour of your twilight!

How perfect you are, Earth, and how majestic!

I have crossed your plains and climbed your mountains; I have gone down into your valleys and entered your caves.

On the plains I have discovered your dreams, on the mountains I have admired your splendid presence.

And in the valleys I have observed your tranquility; among the rocks I have felt your firmness; in the caves I have touched your mysteries.

You who are relaxed in your strength, haughty in your modesty, humble in your arrogance, gentle in your resistance, limpid in your secrets.

I have crossed your seas, explored your rivers, and walked the banks of your streams.

I have heard Eternity speak through your ebb and flow and the ages return the echoes of your melodies over your hillsides.

And I have heard Life calling to itself in your mountain passes and along your valley slopes.

You are the tongue and lips of Eternity, the cords and fingers of Eternity, the thoughts and words of Life.

Your Spring awoke me and led me towards your forests, where your breathing exhales in the distance its sweet perfume in spirals of incense.

Your Summer invited me into your fields to be present at your labor, at the birth of your jewel-like fruits.

Your Autumn showed me, in your vineyards, your blood running like wine.

Your winter took me into its bed where your purity broadcasts its flakes of snow.

You are fragrance when young, force when growing, magnificence in middle life, and with the ice of old age, you are crystal.

On a starry night I opened the lock-gates of my soul and went out to be at your side, with a curious and hungry heart. And I saw you looking at the stars which were smiling at you.

Then I cast off my chains and shackles, for I discovered that the lodging of the soul is your universe, that its desires grow within yours, that its peace dwells within your peace, and that its joy lies in that long hair of stars that the night spreads over your body.

One misty night, weary of idle dreaming, I went to meet you. And you appeared to me like a giant armed with furious tempests, fighting the past by means of the present, overturning the old to the advantage of the new, and letting the strong scatter the weak.

In this way, I learned that the law of Man is your law. I learned that he who does not break up his branches dried out by his own tempest will die of indifference. And he who does not rebel to make his own dead leaves fall will perish from indolence.

Immense are your gifts, Earth, and deep are your groans; long too are the languishing of your heart for your children who have been led astray by their greed on the path of their truth.

We cry out to each other, and you smile.

We go astray, and you pay the penalty for us.

We soil things, and you sanctify.

And we blaspheme, and you bless.

We sleep without ever dreaming, and you dream in your eternal wakefulness. We speak to you while piercing your breast with swords and lances, and you heal our wound-like words with the scented oil of your waters.

We sow our bones and skulls in the palm of your hand, and you make willows and cypresses grow. We store our refuse and excrement within your caves and you fill our attics and taverns. We disfigure you with our blood and you wash our hands in the Eden river. We dissect your entrails in order to extract cannon and rockets from them, and from our bones you create the lily and dew.

Earth, you are long-suffering and magnanimous.

And the Earth cries out to the soil:

"I am the womb and sepulcher and I shall remain thus until the stars fade away and the sun turns into ashes."

    My Guardian Angel

My Angel ever at my side
how lovely you must be -
To leave your home in heaven,
    to guard someone like me.

When I'm far away from home,
    or maybe hard at work
I know you will protect me,
    from harm along the way.

    Your beautiful and shining face,
I see not, though you're near
The sweetness of your lovely voice,
    I cannot really hear.

When I pray, you're praying too,
your prayer is just for me.
But, when I sleep you never do,
    You're watching over me.

for the love of my life  Red heartAlaaRed lipsyou make the world a better place .

be more environmentally friendly save money in the process?

Recycle. Know what you can recycle and not recycle. Here is a short list of the common things we can recycle: a. aluminum cans (aluminum is very much in demand and can be recycled indefinitely.) b. plastic bottles c. plastic containers #1 & #2 d. all paper (computer paper, construction paper, junk mail, envelopes, paperboard (the thickness of cereal boxes), index cards, paper with staples, newspaper, magazines, paperback books) There are also special items that you can recycle like batteries. Please accumulate these and contact your local recycling personnel for directions on how to recycle them.Recycling is not only good for environmental purposes, you can get money from it. One aluminum can might not be worth so much, but everything adds up when you have more. People consume a lot of soda, think about how great it will be if all that aluminum is recycled. Buy goods made from recycled material.  Use less energy by buy energy star products. According to wikipedia, the energy star program's primary goal is to reduce green house gas emissions. Energy star products will also save you money in electric bills
Do not use pesticides in your garden. Pesticides are chemicals that are toxic. Our planet do not need more toxic substances to deal with. Instead, go organic or use nature's own pesticides (biological pest control) as pest control weapons. Fruits and vegetables that are grown without pesticides are healthier for humans as well. Buy local produce. By buying local produce, you will help reduce excessive packaging and "food miles". When food has to travel long distances, gas consumption goes up and green house gas emission goes up. Traditionally in our culture, we like to drive bigger cars and drive around town for the pleasure of driving or sightseeing. But you really need to rethink about driving. Drive less. Don't drive just for the fun of it. Ask yourself, "do I really need to drive or can I take public transportation or do I really need that full size SUV?" Smaller cars are and will always be significantly cheaper than most SUVs.
Help the planet by telling your family and friends that we need to be more environmental friendly.whimsy-its-good-to-be-green-tote

    Hero

    There's a hero
If you look inside your heart
You don't have to be afraid
    Of what you are
    There's an answer
If you reach into your soul
And the sorrow that you know
    Will melt away

And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you

    It's a long road
When you face your world alone
No one reaches out a hand
    For you to hold
    You can find love
    If you search within yourself
    And the emptiness you felt
    Will disappear

    Lord knows
    Dreams are hard to follow
    But don't let anyone
    Tear them away
    Hold on
    There will be tomorrow
    In time
    You'll find the way

    Jasmine

Jasmine is a beautiful flowering vine that can also be trained to grow as a bush. It is a aromatic addition to any garden. (it is avery widespread in my country.you'll find it in every garden).

    trja12

However, planting it does take some careful planning so that it doesn't encroach or destroy anything else in your garden. Here are a few steps on how to plant the sensational smelling jasmine in your garden at home!

Locate an area in your yard. The good news is that jasmine will tolerate an array of soils. Everything from sandy to clay. But the tough thing is that jasmine prefers as much sun and little shade as possible. If your yard is thick with trees, you may have to do a bit of trimming before planting jasmine.

Purchase jasmine from your local nursery. Visit your local nursery and describe to them the area you are trying to grow jasmine in. They will advise you of how many plants you'll need. Remember over time one jasmine vine can grow quite large, so you may only need a few plants to cover a large area. Also describe to the associates at the nursery if you plan to trim the jasmine as a shrub or if you want it to grow in vine form, as this will also make a difference.

Dig holes. When digging the holes for jasmine, be sure that they are placed at least eight feet apart. This sounds like quite a distance, but over time you'll see how beautifully jasmine spreads after you plant it in your graden. The holes should be equivalent to the pots you purchased the jasmine in. Usually this will be between 3 to 6 inches.

Plant jasmine! Remove the jasmine from the pots and plant it in the previously dug holes. Cover with soil. Be careful not to "choke" the plant by covering it with too much soil at the base.

    recommendation
    1
Plant jasmine in an area that gets direct sunlight. All jasmine plants prefer sunny conditions to partial sun or shade and will grow better when they receive more sunlight.

Give indoor jasmine direct sunlight or filtered sunlight as much as possible everyday. In the winter when sunlight is less direct, make sure that the plant receives at least 4 hours of direct sunlight everyday.
    3
Keep jasmine in warm conditions. Jasmine grows best in warm climates, so if you live in a tropical or subtropical climate, or anywhere in the American South, conditions are ideal.
    4
Plant jasmine from a container in the fall, in regular garden soil. You may add leaf mold if desired. Keep soil moderately watered and fertilized.
    5
Apply more fertilizer in the spring if leaves appear yellow.
    6
Plant jasmine plants far apart from one another to avoid crowding. Jasmine grows along a vine on the ground, so each plant quickly becomes much larger and needs initial room to grow.
    7
Trim and prune the vines regularly to check and shape growth. You can propagate additional plants from cuttings.
    8
Grow an upward-growing vine by tying the stems to a heavy support. Jasmine vines will not cling to masonry, so you need to provide a frame for them.
    9
Grow groundcover jasmine by trimming the upward-growing shoots and allowing vines to grow across the ground on top of one another to form a net of vines with a shrub-like appearance.
